We bring drumming, storytelling, costumes, singing and dancing, creative writing and poetry, games and arts and crafts to children and families.

History and Management

Awake To Know Africa was formed in July 2007.  The first school visited and worked with on voluntary basis was Langland School in Netherfield, Milton Keynes. (more…)

Our Activities

We offer a huge variety of activities suitable for different audiences and settings, including drumming, games, story telling, singing and dancing, poetry and creative writing, painting and drawing, drama, costume wearing and concerts. (more…)

We provide African drumming and many other services. We work closely with schools, youth groups and care homes and we are experienced in supporting community, private and corporate events.

Schools

Awake To Know Africa promises to give children, young people and teachers in early years, primary and secondary schools an unforgettable educational experience of African culture. We work in the classroom, in assemblies and in after school and holiday clubs. (more…)

Care Homes

Awake to Know Africa provides drumming, singing and traditional storytelling sessions to support older people’s emotional, psychological and social well-being. We work in care homes, sheltered housing and day centres. (more…)
